To start spiritual and end carnal is foolishness. Having a good intention of making friends is a spiritual start to a spiritual process but ending it by being nervous is foolishness because nervousness is a carnal end to the spiritual process.
Galatians 3:3 "Are you so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are you now made perfect by the flesh?"
Nervousness is carnal because it is the expression of our self-centredness or dependance on self rather than the expression of Christ-centredness or dependance on Christ.
